When you’re stocking your shelves, you need to understand shopping psychology. People are not necessarily looking at the items on the low shelves or craning their necks to see up high. Items at eye level are what catch the eye. High-profit goods should be at the eye level of the purchaser. If you’re interested in appealing to children, these goods should be at their eye level, whereas goods for adults should be at a higher spot on the shelving. You’ll also want to make sure you have the proper signage directing shoppers to where they need to go.

Appeal to the Senses

When you’re decorating your shop space, make sure you appeal to the shopper’s senses. The look of your shop says a lot to customers. If you want customers to feel like they’re getting a great deal, consider going for the look of many warehouse stores. Having exposed beams and a more industrial feel has been shown to improve the customer’s sense of a good deal. However, if you want customers to feel like they’re having an experience in your shop, you’re going to need to get a little more creative with the design.

Give Room to Move

There are several options when designing the space in your store. You need to have a good balance between space for customers to get around and a fully stocked area. Creating rows and walking spaces allow customers to get to your products more easily. However, if there’s too much space, customers may feel uncomfortable or like you don’t have much to offer.
